      While making your vacation plans for 2012, consider touring one of the oldest,last of its kind, wooden Coal camp company stores  left in our country today.
Discover the rich history as we celebrate the heritage of the West Virginia Coal Miner, his family, and the Coal Camp Life. You're invited through an interactive and guided tour to explore the many cultural and historical treasures that abound in this 1890, one of a kind,Coal Camp Company Store.
 Discover little known facts about this historical icon
Unravel  the question, why the hidden safe?
Where is the secret second floor? 

Operate the original  hand operated freight elevator.
Send a postcard  from the Whipple post office.
Discover the curiosities surrounding the 3rd floor ballroom.    
Explore the dark corners of the basement.
Walk in the footsteps of the coal miners gone before us on the miners walk.
Hear the stories, legends, and lore that make the West Virginia coal mining era a legacy not to be forgotten.
This very unique architectural structure sold everything from candy to caskets, and was the center of the coal camp life.

Join us for a guided tour, and enjoy a piece of timeless history.

Guided Tours are approx. 30 minutes,
 
although have been known to last a bit longer for those that have a passion for the past.
 We offer an  interactive and  hands on  approach to learning.

Our featured photos are on loan from the George Bragg Collection and Gem photography
They are outstanding and capture our true Appalachian Heritage, 
We ask that you not take pictures of the photo collection.
Photos are allowed of the building inside and out.
There is NO video taping allowed during the tour.

 Coal Mining Monday 
  $15.00
 includes tour, hands on experience at the 1900 post office, the memory room,
 mining coal, getting paid in scrip, making a heritage craft, ending with a coal miners snack.
 This is an excellent educational field trip for any student wanting more Hands On
 Knowledge of our Heritage and our Appalachian culture
