We offer an interactive and hands on approach to learning about the past. Our Historic photos are outstanding captures of our Appalachian Heritage, The tour will cover the buildings unique architecture and its structural purpose. a brief history of the life and times of the people that shopped here and lived in the surrounding coal camp of Whipple.

Educational Tour Approx 2 hours- Admission is $20.00
A guided tour will be led by one of our History interpreters. This tour is recommended for anyone studying Appalachian studies or Coal Mining Heritage. On this tour you will examine original pieces from the company store era, listen to stories from the folks that lived and shopped here. travel through approx. 18,000 sq. feet of company store that will leave you with a real understanding of life in the coal fields in the early 1900's. College students will benefit from this tour as well as instructors and professor's teaching about life in historic Appalachia. This tour can be requested at the ticket window when making your ticket purchase or can be pre-arranged for groups by calling 304 465-0331.

Coal Mining Monday $15.00 includes tour, hands on experience at the 1900 post office, the memory room, mining coal, getting paid in scrip, making a heritage craft, ending with a coal miners snack.
