MINING MONDAY Any Monday 11:00-6:00
What better way to retain knowledge about our past than to experience a hands on approach learning about it. Mining Monday is fast becoming a big hit among our youthful visitors.
You suit up for this experience, enter our simulated coal mine, and shovel your "16 tons" of coal. Return to the scrip office to be paid for your coal mined. The book keeper will pay you in simulated scrip so that you may spend it in the company scrip store. This 30 minute adventure is one you will enjoy and want to do again. No reservation required. Cost is $7.00, includes souvenir. Miners Lunch A Company Store Highlight
Join us for a Coal Miners Lunch. Eating lunch like a miner is an interesting experience. Taking a step back in time to the turn of the century, samplings of food will be introduced in your lunch bag from the 1900 through 1950 with a brief explanation why such items were carried in the miners dinner bucket. You can enjoy your lunch on the lawn near the coal miners walk or join us inside the museum for some fun food facts and trivia.
This is both fun and enlightening. Cost is $7.00
